Last night was spent on a train. Then we transferred to a bus at 5:30 AM. We drove through the countryside arriving shortly after dawn in Repalle. It is impossible to do justice to the reception we received.
The bus stopped about 4 blocks from the heart of the campus. Fireworks were going off as we got out. Then we were escorted by the boys of IREF, a band, and a mobile loud speaker system. When we came to the main gate, we were greeted by Emmanuel and large flower leis. A formal welcome was given surrounded by the beautiful smiles the girls of IREF.
The rest of the day involved settling in, touring the extensive grounds, setting up the medical clinic, and assisting where we could for the upcoming meetings. In late afternoon we visited a church in an outlying village. The facility was funded by the Scottish church where the medical team attends. This was another elaborate affair including a parade through the streets followed by a celebration at the church.
The team is travel weary. We've lived on naps since Saturday, and we're all eager for a full night's sleep in a bed that is not flying down a track or through the air.
I am awed by the advances that this mission has experienced in the past decade. And it can only be attributed to God. To Him be the glory!
We'll be adding more photos soon.
